We're super excited to be reopening the studio on Tuesday 19th May. We've used our time wisely and enjoyed updating both the inside and outside of the studio as well as the website booking system. But our image is not the only thing to get an update; yogi-etiquette is also having a little adjustment to accomodate this ever changing situation.
In this post I hope to help clarify what to expect over the next few weeks, or at least until more information and advice is received.
Class access & bookings:
You will now be able to choose to practice in the studio, or at home via zoom. (The zoom stream will be of the live, in studio class). It is important when reserving your place that you select the correct class from the schedule so we know to either save you a spot on the floor, or send you the link via email/text.
We have updated our booking system so that you can now log in, making class registration quicker, and there is a new 'my scheduled classes' page for you to view which classes you have signed up for (you can also cancel reservations from this page if necessary).
In-studio class sizes are limited to 9 participants for flow yoga, yoga for flexibility, and gentle yoga, and 8 for chair yoga. For this reason it is essential that you reserve your place online prior to coming to the studio. In order to maintain a safe distance while practicing, walk-in students are not guaranteed entry to the studio. If the studio session is fully booked, please sign up to participate from home. You are welcome to text me (Shona) on 409-698-6335 and request to be put on the waitlist in case of cancellation.
New Studio Etiquette
- If you arrive at the same time as other yogis, please allow them time to enter the building and make their way out of the lobby before entering.
- Please wash your hands upon entering the studio.
- Please try to maintain 6' distance at all times.
- Place the front of your mat at one of the designated lines.
- Your instructor will practice social distance, therefore there will be no hands on adjustments or assists.
Mats & Props
There is no mat rental available until further notice. If you are new to the practice, we have a great mid range mat, and amazing pro mat available to purchase at the studio.
We request that yogis bring their own props to the practice. All of the items needed are available to purchase in the studio if required. If you are new to a practice, we have a limited supply of studio props that can be borrowed and will be cleaned and taken out of rotation for 3 days after the session.
For flow, gentle and flexibility yogis we recommend 2 x blocks and a blanket as a minimum. While not essential, a strap is useful for yogis with tight shoulders or hamstrings (and can double up as a mat carrier), and an eye pillow is a treat for relaxation. Flow yogis may also wish to bring a towel.
Chair Yogis we recommend having 1 x block and a blanket (plus an eye pillow for a treat!)
Single class, 5 class and 10 class passes can be purchased on the shop page of our website prior to sessions. If you would prefer to pay by cheque when coming to the studio please have it written prior to the session. Yogis practicing from home can post cheques if preferred (contact Shona for address). You can check on the status of your pass by texting 'class pass status +your name' to 4096986335
If you have reserved a space in the studio for a session but are unable to attend, please cancel on our website as soon as possible so that the space can be offered to other students.
Please note that cancellations of studio sessions made within 24hours of the class start time will be charged for the studio place (if you choose to attend online instead, you will be charged for the studio space and the online session). This is to ensure that places are not saved for 'just in case'.
While we encourage you to practice regularly and maintain the commitment to yourself and your own practice, we understand that plans change. For this reason, there is still no charge for cancellation of online sessions.
We are looking forward to practicing together again, and welcoming back yogis who have been unable to join us online. Most important of all, if you or someone you live with is unwell, or you have been in close contact with someone who is sick, please practice at home.
